These guidelines will help you to write your blog. We reserve the right to edit your submission and will publish at our discretion.
Topics
Literary figures and commemorations.
Book characters.
Book anniversaries.
Historical anniversaries.
Summary or perspective about a Friends of the Edgewater Library program, Edgewater Library program or Chicago Public Library program.
General article about reading, libraries or literature.
How a particular book or literary figure might have application to daily life.
We will not accept articles about politics or with a political tone, that use profanity or derogatory language, or are self-promotional. If we determine that a post is inappropriate for our use, we will let you know.
Tone
Conversational, informal (use contractions), active voice, without jargon or complex terminology.
Length
100 to 250 words, please no more than 300 words. If you wish to write a longer post, please contact us via email to discuss.
Attribution
As a Friends’ member, your blog post will be credited with your name.
Keyword phrases
We may add words and phrases to your article that will help search engines and readers find the blog.
Images
Writer may attach a free image or photo (no copyright restrictions) to accompany the blog. We will determine if the image is usable as is and may substitute a better photo. Writer may also submit a photo which they have taken, and if we determine it is usable, we will credit them in the blog post.
Timing
Please submit your article two to three weeks before you would like it to be published.
