You’ll find a world of friends when you become a Friends of the Edgewater Library member. Meet your neighbors. Support the library staff. Create programs for children and adults. Engage the community. We also supplement the library’s resources and advocate on behalf of the library with neighborhood, city, and state government officials. Finally, we partner with other community organizations to enrich our residents, our neighborhood, and our lives. Find a world of friends - let’s join!

Membership Levels

  • Friend | $10

  • Very Good Friend | $20

  • Best Friend | $50

  • Friendly Benefactor | $100

  • Very Friendly Benefactor | $200

  • Best Friend Benefactor |$500

Our membership year is June 1-May 31, and dues are paid annually. As an added perk, if you join in March, April, or May, your membership is good through May of the following year.

Friends of the Edgewater Library is an Illinois-registered, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization - EIN 36-3850960. Dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Member Meetings

The Friends meet at 10-11 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month, except in May and November, when it meets on the third Saturday; there are no meetings in August and December. 

When we hold meetings in person, they are conducted in the Betty A. Barclay Community Room on the second floor of the Edgewater Branch Library, 6000 N. Broadway. Attendance is optional, and of course, we hope you’ll participate! 

When we hold virtual meetings via Zoom, please register in advance using the meeting registration link in the calendar listings on the home page.

Membership Benefits

As a member, you will provide input into planning and implementing Friends’ programs and influence positive change for the library. You’ll benefit from the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the betterment of the library and the Edgewater community. 

Support Our Mission

If you feel called to support our mission beyond membership, here are some ways you can do it:

  • Volunteer for book sales, events, programs and other activities.

  • Attend and be an active participant at our meetings and events.

  • Act as a Friends ambassador by spreading the word about our activities to friends and neighbors.

  • Donate in-kind products or services as a Community Partner.

  • Serve on a committee or as an officer of the Board.

  • Financially sponsor a program or event.

  • Contribute financially to our Friends For Life Legacy Society to help us build an endowment for the future
