Geralyn Hesslau Magrady, 2016 winner of the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Project for Lines, discovered her main character while researching her own genealogy.

The novel begins in 1871, before Chicago is unaware of the great tragedy ready to unfold. The class struggles that were evident prior to the Great Chicago Fire will be strengthened during the city's rebirth, and an obedient Livia Haas must find her own strength during the transition.

Affected by a first love, a deceased brother, and a sinister acquaintance who threatens her life and family, Livia is forced to question literal and personal lines, as well as those that exist in the lineage from which she is born.

This free presentation includes a reading by and Q&A with the author; signed books will be available for purchase for $15.
