Celebrate National Friends of the Library Week with us at two special programs for the week.

On Tuesday, October 20, at 6 p.m., bring your cocktail, coffee, or beverage of choice along with some snacks and find our what a “Friends of the Library” group does. Join us for “Let’s Get Acquainted - An Evening with Friends of the Edgewater Library.” If you’re a new member, find out how you can play with us. If you’re a long-time member, share your stories from past book sales, programs, and social events. Register here or through Eventbrite. See the full calendar listing here.

On Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m. join us for an evening program, “The Fight, Might, and Right to Vote: Then & Now.” We have a brief play, “Radical Ideas” presented by Her Story Theater, which focuses on three Illinois-based women suffragists, and the men who supported and opposed them in gaining the right to vote. This is followed by a panel discussion between Mary Bonnett of Her Story Theater, and Anne Jamieson, president of the League of Women Voters of Chicago on how the fight for the right to vote by women and other minority populations is applicable to today and why the fight continues. This will all be followed by a Q&A with the presenters. Register here or through Eventbrite. See the full calendar listing here.

Both virtual programs sponsored by Friends of the Edgewater Library. Programs are free and open to the public.

Our book sales are the main funding source for our programs and events. Due to Covid-19 and for the safety of our members and attendees, we have canceled our book sales. if you enjoy these programs or any of our past events, please consider joining the Friends or making a donation of any size.
