Louisa May Alcott Entertains At Edgewater Library
Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Who doesn't know the story of these “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott? The Friends of the Edgewater Library, with the help of anonymous donor, recently hosted local historian and actress, Leslie Goddard to entertain folks as Louisa May Alcott at the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the publication of Little Women.
More than 100 residents showed up at the Edgewater Library’s Betty Barkley Community Room on Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 pm for this insider’s look into the life of the late authoress. They learned about her upbringing and the many moments of her life that played out in her characters, stories and books. The program lasted about 90 minutes and guests were invited first to question Miss Alcott about her life. Then, Leslie Goddard returned to answer questions about how she prepared for this particular role.
All in all the afternoon performance was praised by those who came. Our thanks to Leslie Goddard for a wonderful interpretation of this best-loved author.
