Something For Art History Buffs

As we figure out how to spend our free time during this “new normal” we’re experiencing, Friends members are passing on information about online resources to help everyone while away their hours.

if art is your thing, then you may be familiar with the iPhone and Android app, Daily Art, produced by a group of young women from Poland. Thanks to many world-class museums, galleries, private collectors, and other art resources such as Europeana, which features art from more than 3,500 European museums and cultural institutions - app users can view a massive collection of beautiful art by famous and little known artists from around the world. It features paintings, sculptures, historical artifacts, and so much more.

In addition to the app, Daily Art publishes a daily online newsletter that typically delves deeper into an artist’s body of work or talks about exhibits currently showing at the world’s museums. In the March 17 entry, the art aficionado can tap into “The Art Guide to Quarantine” and delight for days visiting a myriad of online art and cultural sites listed.
